G’day G’day friends, I went to a live band show last week. They were a local Balinese group playing their latest album. As I was listening to them play music, I realized that: Solopreneurship is very much similar to being a person in a band. In a band, you all have your individual skills. There is:
Everyone’s got a role and responsibility. But the magic is when you play together. That’s exactly the same as solopreneurship. The myth of having a one-person biz is that you need do everything yourself. Doing everything yourself is like playing in a band by yourself. Sure you could be multi-talented and sing, dance, and play all the instruments. But I’ve yet to see a person actually do that and not completely burnout. This is an important topic. Why? Because we are living in the Solopreneur Revolution. It’s never been easier, less-risky, and more profitable to be a solopreneur. Big corporations are shrinking in size. We won’t be working in big conglomerates with thousands of employees. We’re going to become small bands of highly talented musicians that are going to be playing our instruments together for a specific project. Similar to how Hollywood already works. But people always ask me: How do I do everything? I said: You don't. You build a team of contractors who are themselves solopreneurs. I've got a book coach, business coach, editor, and a VA. You need a team. Nothing great is achieved alone. Solopreneurs who play together, win together.
