The office decides the person 🧑‍💼

G’day friends, I’m officially leaving Melbourne. I’m excited about the next phase of my journey. For the last 18 months, I’ve been living semi-nomadically. I haven’t stayed in one city for longer than 6 weeks. I’ve moved across: Singapore Indonesia Malaysia Vietnam Japan Laos Sri Lanka Thailand Plus many more. But while exciting at the start, I’m craving stability. Creating a new routine in a new city every month is hard. Finding a new place to eat, go to the gym, and where to work starts to...

my grandma is a badass 👊

G’day friends, I’m back in sunny Singapore. Sri Lanka was my last business conference for the year. Now, I’m looking forward to chilling out and a break. While in Singapore, I visited my 91 year old grandmother Here she is: She’s the person who unknowingly kick-started my 18-month travel journey. In 2024, I visited her just before a trip to Thailand. I was feeling stuck, safe, and comfortable. On paper, my life was great. I had the job title, salary, and status everyone kills for at 28. But I...

Regain control of your biz 🎮

G’day friends, I’ve been working with Matt for over a year now. He is a kick ass entrepreneur. Takes loads of actions. Listens to feedback. I’ve really enjoyed working with him. We had a recent check-in and he said this: I get the warm and fuzzies when I hear this. Not because it validates me… But because it shows what happens when someone commits to clarity over chaos. Some key systems we’ve built: Positioning to attract his dream customers instead of chasing. A sales system that converts...

1 sale keeps the 9-5 away 🤑

G’day friends, I’ve made major changes to my business. Over the last few months, I’ve added more offers. Low-ticket digital products. Now, my inbox looks like this: Why? I had a simple realisation. Most people will never jump straight into a high priced program. Not because they don’t trust you. But because they don’t trust themselves. So I flipped my strategy. I now solve a small problem first. Prove my trust and value. Then they buy the big one. It works because trust builds in layers. Just...

the small wins, win 🏁

G’day friends, It’s been a big couple of weeks. I’ve landed back in Singapore from Sri Lanka. And promptly slept for 14 hours. Even after all that sleep, I still woke up tired. My body is recovering from the stimulation overload. New time zones. Long flights. Speaking events. It felt like go, go, go. On top of this, I’m also: Writing my book. Delivering client work. Creating my own content. It’s a lot. During this time, my emotions can fluctuate. I can feel sad, happy, excited, and tired all...

taking the perspective pill 💊

G’day friends, I’ve had a massive week. I’ve taken 2 flights. Moved through 3 different time zones. Spoke on two panels. Meet a dozen new contacts at a business conference. Explored a new country I've never been to. All within a week. It’s been stimulation overload. I find myself wanting to lock myself in a room and be alone. But despite feeling utterly exhausted, I found a bit of perspective. Whenever I feel stressed, I think: What would previous 25 year old Michael think of what I’m doing?...

This system will help you win 👑

G’day friends, I recently finished a book by Ian Graham called How To Win The Premier League. Ian was the Head of Data for Liverpool FC for over a decade. I’m a lifelong Manchester United fan. (5 games unbeaten now!!) But even I found this book interesting. From 2014-2024, Liverpool dominated. They won: EFL Cup. Premier League. Champions League. All because they started to use data in their decision making. Let me explain… Winners and losers have the same goals. But what separates them are...

I'm surprised about Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

G’day friends, I’ve been in Sri Lanka for a few days. The country as exceeded my expectations. The airport is super efficient. The people are friendly. There’s so much history. But a place is defined through food. I tried a local dish called my airport driver told me: Rice and curry. I don’t eat meat, so I ate it vegetarian style. It sounded pretty basic. But I’m open minded. So, I gave it a go. You eat the dish with different flavours. See here: my first rice and curry in Sri Lanka No...

I’m grateful to be walking 👣

G’day friends, Last week, I was in so much pain. I had a bad flare up of plantar fasciitis. My flat feet and stiff big toe means my foot doesn’t absorb shock well. So when I exercise too much, my foot suffers. It got so bad I woke up with searing pain at 3:32am. I thought someone had stabbed my foot with a hot knife. Walking wasn’t an option. I had to crawl to my kitchen to get the anti-inflammatory meds. (It was ibuprofen, not durians... unfortunately). I swallowed those bad boys so quickly....

Overlooked for that promotion? 🔭

G’day G’day mates, The time has come to leave Melbourne. I’m catching a flight to Sri Lanka. (with a short stopover in Singapore). I’ve lost count of how many flights I’ve taken this year. At a family catch-up last night, my cousin asked me: Are you happy with what you’re doing? Despite being tired and having plantar fasicities, I could say “yes” with no hesitation. What a privilege to be tired chasing something you love. Most corporate executives are tired chasing something they hate. I...
