Gâday Gâday friends, In 2025, Crunchbase reported there were 126,000+ tech layoffs. Massive companies such as:
Laid off staff thousands of staff despite reporting skyrocketing profits. This is insane numbers. But behind every number is a real person. This could be someoneâs daughter, uncle, mother, brother, father. (Hell, this could even be you). Someone with a real story. Someone with hopes and dreams. Someone who believed they did all the ârightâ things. Only to be brutally laid off via email into the worst job market. All that talk of âbeing a familyâ only extends to next quarterâs P&L. Or the preaching of âLoyaltyâ only to feel like a line on a spreadsheet. Iâm not against the 9-5 job. But they need to be used as a stepping stone. Your corporate job is used to build finances, skills, and a network. I wouldnât stay longer than 5-8 years. And I would be building my one-person business on the side the entire time. While 2025 feels like the death of the safe tech 9-5. 2026 is the year of the solopreneur. We are living in a time when building your one-person has never been: Easier, cheaper, and less risky. If you've worked a tech job, you've ALREADY got a high value skill and everything else you need to get started. You can turn that lay off into an opportunity to kick start solopreneurship. âIf youâre ready to start, hereâs something to get you kickstarted.â Letâs Launch Together, Michael âbreakdowns or breakthroughâ Lim. |
