The Q4 strategy reset

G’day, G’day friends!

Every 90 days, I take a quarterly reset.

This is where I put down all my tools.

(metaphorically speaking).

I’ll book an Airbnb somewhere far away in nature.

The purpose of the break is to step away from my usual routine.

This space gives my mind time to breathe and relax.

During this break, I ask myself:

  • What worked well in the last 90 days?
  • What do I want to achieve over the next 90 days?
  • What mindset am I leaving behind in the next quarter?

I stole this practice from Bill Gates, who calls this ‘Think Weeks’.

He’ll book a remote cabin (not a secret island, iykyk) and read a stack of books.

I’ll also book an adventure.

An activity that puts me out of my comfort zone and into nature.

This time I chose whitewater rafting and ATV in Ubud, Bali.

Being in the middle of a forest and paddling through rapids is completely immersive.

It’s literally impossible to think of anything else.

Taking an intentional break every 90 days is now standard practice for me.

After this period off, I come back feeling refreshed and re-energized.

I've got better ideas and a clear focus on what I need to achieve.

Thinking in quarters breaks up my year into 4 distinguishable seasons.

I can plan, strategize, and execute based on the season I’m in.

Q4 2026 is a high-acquisition season for most solopreneurs.

So, I need to adjust my strategy accordingly.

Solopreneurs go wrong when they apply the wrong strategy to the right season.

Or the right strategy to the wrong season.
