G'day G'day friends, I finished reading a book about Kobe Bryant. I’m not the biggest basketball fan. But I’m always interested in outliers. People who have overachieved in their industry. Whether that’s acting, business, or sports. Kobe Bryant is elite even among elite competition. Why? Extreme people get extreme results. You can’t be an outlier while being normal. To be the exception, you need to be exceptional. He put everything he learned into an alter ego. He called it: The Mamba Mentality. Here’s how I apply the Mamba Mentality to my business: #1: Relentlessly pursue leverage. I do things that compound over time. One thing that does this: Content creation. Content might look unproductive in the short-term. When I publish, nothing happens. But over time, my articles work as a 24/7 sales agent. I have a catalog of articles that does my selling for me. This is leverage I’ve used to secure clients and book deals. #2: Stick to one thing. Entrepreneurs are constantly distracted. I see people in Bali who have 3-4 different businesses. All of which they are the founder or CEO. Kobe Bryant ruthlessly cut out anything not related to basketball. He said no over and over again. Remember: Entrepreneurs die from indigestion rather than starvation. #3: Reskilling for the future Learning new skills is a hedge against inflation. If you aren’t learning daily, you’re moving backward. But specializing in specific skills is stupid. You’ll never beat AI in specializing. Cross-domain skills and the ability to synthesize are the new superpower. Kobe took lessons from Italian basketball and language and applied to his life in America. *** Kobe Bryant just did the things no one else was willing to do. That’s how he achieved things other people couldn’t. It’s not rocket science. Consistent + talent is a potent combination. Let’s Launch Together, Michael “mamba mentality” Lim. *** P.S - Whenever you’re ready to Launch, here are 3 ways I can help you fire up your one-person business rocket ship:
