G’day friends,

I’m excited for 2026.

But there are going to be huge changes in the online world.

The biggest change will be: Community.

People are going to pay a premium for in-person events.

I’ve already seen it with events this year.

People are travelling long distances to be part of them.

At these events, there’s a craving for face-to-face connection.

People almost seem desperate for them.

Like an itch they are looking to scratch.

I can’t blame them.

We’ve endured the last 5 years of increasing digital connection.

More and more Zoom calls.

More time spent in front of a 2D screen.

Not enough time spent looking someone eye-to-eye.

And now AI is creating a trust recession for online content.

Consumers just don’t believe what they see or hear anymore.

People want to see things in front of their eyes.

Otherwise, there’s lingering doubt.

We are living in world of connection-saturation.

But when something becomes abundant, something else becomes scarce.

In 2026 and beyond, in-person experience and events will be the next trend.

Everyone is focusing on more AI tools, but I think they are overplayed.

I’m focusing on human nature that won’t change.

Enduring qualities that will aways be valued.

Jeff Bezos as a great quote:

“I very frequently get the question: 'What's going to change in the next 10 years?' And that is a very interesting question; it's a very common one. I almost never get the question: 'What's not going to change in the next 10 years?' And I submit to you that that second question is actually the more important of the two, because you can build a business strategy around the things that are stable in time. ... [I]n our retail business, we know that customers want low prices, and I know that's going to be true 10 years from now.

No matter what happens humans need connection.

That will be true in 10 months and in 10 years.
