I've had to do my tax return recently.

This is for both my company and personal statements.

I like doing my tax just as much as getting my wisdom teeth removed.

But this year, I was actually looking forward to seeing my tax.

Why?

Because I got to see the real maths of a one-person business.

This was the real test of a crazy gamble I took.

Two years ago, I walked out of my fancy Executive Director role.

I packed up my stuff in Australia and bid a g’day to my friends and family.

Since then, I’ve been living and working across Southeast Asia.

It’s been loads of fun (with lots of uncertainty).

But this experience taught me you don't need a team or a fancy office to make multi-six-figures.

I've worked from a variety of random spots.

(Including a mountain that overlooked China in Vietnam's north)

But you need a few simple offers that add up.

Let's do some maths (i know, soz. But its worth it):

• 5 x 1:1 clients at $2k/m = $120k/year
• 100 community members at $100/m = $120k/year
• 200 digital product sales (16/month) at $50 a pop = $10k/year

Or any unique combination of these.

Just tweak the variables that work better in your context.

I failed maths in Year 9, but even I know these are great numbers.

This could be a $250k solo business, run by one smart durian (you).

After decades of building someone else's empire, you can build a mini-empire online.

One that gives you more fun, freedom, and flexibility.

I've done it myself.

I built a one-person business to multi-six-figures, then sold it at 28.

I’ve now built another one-person business that helps solopreneurs scale.

I've found it easier to start with 1:1, cap those spots, then layer the rest on top once you've got proof, cash flow, and solid foundation for your offer.

But it’s not all sweet durians.

The math only works once people know who you are.

You need to be able to sell your expertise at scale.
