G'day G'day friends, I celebrated my 31st birthday a few weeks ago. With some nudging, I decided to host a dinner in Bali. I had the idea to hire a photographer and videographer. A bit extra? Maybe. I felt a bit silly on the night with two cameras following me around. But the results were awesome. At the end of the night, I had a bunch of b-roll video and photos. My editor then created a short video and edited photos. I shared them with everyone that attended. People loved it. I could share the memory with my friends and family back in Melbourne. Even a few weeks on, I realized how special that day was. I can watch the video and relive the memory of the night. But this applies to more than just a birthday dinner. I wish I documented my solopreneur journey back when I started my first business. I wish I talked to the camera at the exact moment I quit my 9-5 job. I wish I documented the struggles I was going through at the time. While I’ve been writing for 7 years, video captures more than words ever could. This is the big bet I’m making in 2026. Video and audio content. I’ll never stop writing. But I want to push myself to the next level. I’ll be learning the skills of video and audio content. This is what my bet looks like in 2026. 1/ Hiring a videographer and photographer to come to events with me. 2/ Investing in building workflows, software, and infrastructure for video content. 3/ Getting the help of a video-first content creator to see how I can learn from them. The random b-roll and photos I capture will become future sales assets. Imagine if you could listen to your thoughts and mindset a few years ago. Your journey as a solopreneur moves quick. Be sure to stop, document, and reflect on your experience.
