G’day G’day mates, I left Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur International Airport last week. For a modern and busy city, the airport is not updated. There’s no automated check-in machines or bag drops. This means that you have to queue up. Since I was flying Malaysian Airlines, every international flight are serviced by the same 4 counters. I don’t know if you heard me right. Every. Single. Flight. For those who have travelled, you probably realize the chaos this causes. A few days before I got an email saying to arrive at the airport 4 hours before departure. Another friend who left before me said they almost missed their flight due to long lines. But even then, I wasn’t prepared for the length of the line. People were freaking out. Some started yelling. One airline staff told me it would take about 2 hours. I Innocently said: “Thanks for your help, I can’t imagine how hard your job must be today.” He looked at me and said: “Is it just you checking-in?” while gesturing for my ticket. I said: “yes” He looked at my ticket and said: “Go to the biz class check-in in Row D. I’ll radio them that you’re coming.” I was shocked. “What do you mean?” He confirmed and repeated the instructions. I looked at him, shook his hand and said thanks again. I walked over to business class that had no line. I cleared the check-in, immigration, and security in under 15 minutes. The check-in counter staff upgraded my luggage weight and gave me priority luggage collection. Instead of being in line for 2 hours, I started writing this email while sipping coffee. My point? Small kindness pays off. Be more human. Let’s Launch Together, Michael ‘be more kind’ Lim. *** P.S - Whenever you’re ready to Launch, here are 3 ways I can help you fire up the rocket ship:
