Many people donāt know this. But I was born in Singapore. I was even raised in the Durian Capital till I was 5. And then grew up in Melbourneās mighty west But Iāve got more family in Singapore than I do in Australia. While I love Australia, I always felt disconnected from my cultural heritage. I often feel too Asian to be Australian. And too Australian to be considered Asian. My dark secret? Iām a grandma's boy. One of my grandmothers is 87 and the other is 91. They are in the twilight years. And both live in Singapore. Before I became a digital nomad, Iād be lucky to see them once a year. Maybe twice. I was terrified that they would pass and Iād never get to make more memories together. Or access the knowledge in their life. Now, long-form writing allows me to be closer to them. I can write from anywhere in the world. Hit publish from Singapore. And reach an audience of over 100k. Make multi-six-figures doing so. Thatās why I love freedom. Not just for the coconuts on the beach in Bali. Or getting to ride motorbikes in Northern Vietnam. Donāt get me wrong, that stuff is cool. But the real meaning behind my writing is family. Being close to those who matter most to me. While they are still in this world. Everyoneās got their own definition of freedom. What does freedom mean to you? Stay Limitless, Michael āgrannyās boyā Lim P.S - I want to help more ex-corporate solopreneurs build freedom through long-form writing. I'm building a writing-based operating system, and if you're interested, CLICK HERE.ā |
