G'day G'day friends, I was at a farewell dinner for my Swedish friend in Bali. He was leaving for Stockholm in a few days. I was able to start speaking with his lovely mum. She’s in her 50s and has always dreamed of writing a book. For the last decade, she’s had a fictional novel in her mind. In their previous home, they stayed near an abandoned psychiatric hospital. It’s as creepy as it sounds. But whenever she would walk past it, she would develop a plot in her mind. I was so impressed by the character development and the book's premise. But when I asked her when she would start writing it, She said, “Maybe when I retire or have more time.” In her mind, if she couldn’t write for at least 2 hours per day there was no point in writing at all. It’s a common trap aspiring writers fall into. But that logic doesn’t hold up. That would be like walking into the gym and saying: “I won’t go to the gym unless I can bench 100kgs.” Doesn’t make sense does it? Because to lift 100kgs you need to first lift 1kg. To write for hours per day, you need to first write for 10-15 minutes per day. So, that’s what I told her to do. Make the bar so low she can’t help but write something every day. You’ll be surprised by how much 15 minutes of writing per day will help you progress. Remember my durian-loving friend, You can’t multiply by 0. You can’t accumulate compound interest from 0. You’ll never have more time. You have to make, steal, and create time. Stealing 10 - 15 minutes of writing everyday moves you in the right direction. This applies to all domains of life.
Daily action keeps the right momentum building. You might think this is too short to achieve anything, but everything adds up. Nothing is ever wasted. So, stop waiting for more time, and start stealing time today. Let’s Launch Together, Michael “15 minutes is all you need’’ Lim.
